It was also awesome to hear stories of several children getting healed.

One guy also shared how he had been talking with a Muslim. Many got equipped to preach the Gospel, more than 700 received Jesus as their Saviour and God confirmed His word with signs and wonders.

I could see that the atmosphere was quite tense both in Kenya and South Sudan. In Kenya people started riots because of the presidential elections, and South Sudan also had a political reason for turbulence. Politicians should actually secure peace, but it often seems they do the opposite. It is just becoming clearer and clearer to me that true peace can only come when people receive inner peace, which is why we must preach the Gospel more clearly than ever before.

I got invited to South Sudan to lead a seminar about preaching the Gospel. Because of the political situation I was a little uncertain about travelling there, but fortunately I didn’t have to take that trip alone. Geoffrey Muthinja from Kenya, a good friend and co-worker, was willing to travel with me.

I taught about how to preach the Gospel and Geoffrey taught about the necessity to get equipped with the power from above. Both the topics were perfectly matched, which was also confirmed by the fruits of the preaching.

There was, among others, a woman who had been paralysed in one side due to a stroke and got instantly healed. The day after she was able to walk a lot for the first time and shop at a market without help, and afterwards she came to church to give glory to God. There was also a man who had been dumb since 2003 because of a virus and who started to speak again.

Every single day there happened many other miracles and those who participated in the seminar got on fire for evangelism. They began to see that if 700 could get saved within 7 days, they could also really make a change if they continued to go out with the Good News.

One of the teams which were out in the streets knocked on the door of a family where the wife was going to leave her husband. They started to talk to them and, as a result, Jesus - the Prince of Peace - brought peace and reconciliation to that home.

Another team knocked on the president’s door. They didn’t get to speak with the president himself, but they were allowed to preach to the soldiers and the other workers who were there. After preaching the Gospel they could see that many of the soldiers felt very moved.

I feel grateful when I recall the trip to South Sudan and it is a big privilege to be able to see people saved and equipped to preach the Gospel. It is possible, however, thanks to all of you who support us. Some have to travel and some have to send those who are willing to go. We are really grateful for all of the supporters and we know that God will reward you abundantly.

Seminar and conference in Mombasa!

http://www.mission1040.com/newsblog/seminar-and-conference-in-mombasa

http://www.mission1040.com/newsblog/seminar-and-conference-in-mombasa#comments

Uncategorized

It has been a long time since I sent my last email. I hope many will follow his example.

Three good days at the coast of Kenya before leaving for Norway
The last weekend I spent at the coast of Kenya, preaching there in the service on Sunday and having some time of working and coming up to date with reports and writings. It was good to see many people seeking salvation and great testimonies of healing. We are starting up the Volume II of Million Leaders Mandate training there next year, and I am looking forward to that.

Live the life of Jesus and let
His fire burn in you!
Jesus is soon coming back – we believe it and we preach it. The signs of the time is clearer than ever and it has never been as important to be ready as today! The serious thing we always should remember is that the Bible tells us that many Christians that think they are ready – they are actually NOT ready. We read about the people knocking on the door and saying Lord, Lord, let us in! But he answered and said: Truly I say to you: I have no knowledge of you! He also tells that many will come and tell that they had prophesied and done miracles in His name, and he would tell them: I have never known you!

I do not want to be among these – and Jesus told that we should know them from the fruits. We read about the fruits in Galatians 5,22-23: “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, a quiet mind, kind acts, well-doing, faith, gentle behaviour, control over desires”.

Jesus did not come with a better religion, but he came with the new life of the Spirit! That is why Romans 8;14 tells us: “Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” It is the life that flows from us as believers, that is important. James is very clear when he tells that “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” in James 2;17 and in James 2;26 he says: “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.”

Let your life shine today – let the fruits grow and let Jesus be revealed through you, Ronald! It is so important to watch and pray in this time and be ready and waiting for Jesus to come back. Paul tells the Corinthian church in 2nd Cor. 13;5: “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you – unless, of course, you fail the test?” It was not their confession of faith they should check – but if Jesus was alive in their life and did his deeds through them. Let your own die, and let Jesus get full freedom to work in your life! Jesus died and paid for our sins, but we have ourselves to receive him and give him full control of our life! He is the only one that can forgive and cleanse us, but there is no forgiveness without repentance and the new life! Now is the time to seek the Lord as never before and be ready every day, waiting and expecting Him!

    Greetings

   Jan Ernst

Back from Kenya and South Sudan

http://www.mission1040.com/newsblog/back-from-kenya-and-south-sudan

http://www.mission1040.com/newsblog/back-from-kenya-and-south-sudan#comments

kenya

south sudan

I just came back from an exciting mission tour to Kenya and South Sudan. It was greatly emphasized by Jesus that the disciples should wait in Jerusalem until they had received the Power of the Holy Spirit, and it is just as important to us to receive our Pentecostal experience of Power today, as we have the same message to deliver. The task is not yet finished!

We experienced the Power of God falling on many of the participants in the meetings, filling them with his Holy Spirit and they were speaking in tongues and glorifying God. Some of the people were not yet baptized in water, and we walked to the shore of the Red Sea nearby, and 22 of them were baptized to Christ!

I also used some time to inspire them to count on God confirming their words with signs following, and expect God to heal the sick they would meet when they would lay their hands on them and pray for them. We also showed YouTube films for them from the experience that our son Ronald and his friend Torben Sondergaard has in Denmark and other countries. You can have a look yourself at www.thelastreformation.com. We also practiced in the conference and saw many great healing miracles taking place. This is a great answer to our prayers for many years, and we praise God for these people.

I have mentioned before that we have had a couple from Egypt helping in Nyala, Darfur, and it was great to meet friends of them here in the conference. They have meant a lot for the work of the Gospel there – particularly when all the people from the south had to leave here. It has become increasingly difficult for people from South Sudan to work and live in Sudan, and many of them were pillars of the church work in Sudan.

God is calling more people from Egypt to help in Sudan, and we praise God for this. In October they plan to bring a team to Khartoum to be shining the love of Jesus there. These brothers and sisters has the fire of The Holy Spirit, His power and they have experience, and it is much easier for them to present the Good News of Jesus to the people there than it is for us or even for people from South Sudan. Pray for them as they prepare and pray that God will raise support for their outreach of love!

Witnesses from Egypt with a reach out to the Arabic speaking world.
We had the privilege these days to serve together with servants of the Lord that already have a great outreach to the entire Arab world. Before the 20-year-long civil war started in 1983, he had been to the country 15 times in order to preach and inspire the new church leaders and preachers there. He also helped them to have the movement registered by the authorities. Now there are more than 400 local churches there and they are experiencing strong growth in the work.

The last 6 years he has been visiting the country many times a year, teaching, equipping and training many hundreds of preachers and Christian leaders both from this movement and from the whole range of evangelical churches in the country. After the cease-fire between the north and south took place, Gabrielsen travelled to the capital of Sudan, Khartoum, in order to meet some of the leaders of Sudan Pentecostal Churches. He met many that he had known from the time before the civil war started, and many who came there afterwards. The seed that had been planted had brought rich fruit!

Darfur calls!
The civil war in Darfur started more than 4 years ago, and this war was not a fight between Christians and Muslims. Here it was African Muslims who saw that the south of Sudan was negotiating with the regime in Khartoum about having partly a self-government, and they had experienced themselves being oppressed and exploited for many years. They rebelled and the authorities struck back in a cruel way. Together with militant groups from Arabian tribes - the so-called Janjaweed – one village after another got attacked, burned and destroyed. The inhabitants became exposed to cruel treatment with tortures, murder, rape and humiliation. The African tribes became exterminated from large areas, and today more than 2 million of these African Muslims live in refugee camps. They are kept alive by about 16,000 aid workers from numerous humanitarian organizations that work there together with the UN.

Fervent prayer and inauguration together with strong spiritual experiences strengthen the ministry.

Christian refugees preach Jesus
Traditionally Darfur has not had any Christians and has been very Muslim. In the meantime, during the civil war that lasted for more than 20 years, there came some refugees from the south of Sudan. Over 5 million people fled from the south during those years, and more than 4 million settled around the capital, Khartoum. Thousands of others fled to neighbouring countries and other parts of the world, but some also came to Darfur, which lies in the north. Many of these refugees came from the churches we had started in the south before the war! Some of them started smaller "refugee churches" in Darfur, as well as around Khartoum, but did not have any big breakthrough among local tribes in Darfur.

When the civil war began in Darfur and thousands from African tribes were killed and tortured in the most cruel ways by their Muslim brothers from the Arabic tribes, many began also to ask questions about their religion. Many came to the Christian refugees there and said, "We have made a big mistake that has placed us under the Arabic leaders and their religion! Now we would like to hear about Jesus from the Bible!" Even chiefs and Muslim leaders ask for help and want to hear about God from these Christian refugees.

First Christian leader seminars in Darfur
When Gabrielsen visited Khartoum 3 years ago, many Christians came from Darfur and asked for help with getting teaching and leader training there as well. It resulted in the first Christian leader seminar in the history of Darfur, and 80 leaders came from all the Christian denominations. It turned out that many of them did not even understand what salvation is, and only a few had Bibles. After that seminar the Gospel experienced a fantastic breakthrough there. Thousands of Bibles were distributed and many experienced, Spirit-filled Christians from other parts of Sudan have devoted 3 months each to help the new Christians
in Darfur!

Preachers and leaders received teaching with open hearts when Jan Ernst Gabrielsen was teaching in Nyala, Darfur.

A big group of evangelists and Sudanese missionaries have been part of starting many new churches in this large region, which is just as big as the whole of France and where there live 10 - 12 million people. The province of Darfur has about 50 various tribes and people groups, some with African and some with Arabic roots. All of them have been completely non-evangelized, and what gives perspective to the work is that this is more than a half of the 94 unreached people groups in Sudan. No other nation in Africa has so many unreached tribes, and if we can reach Darfur tribes, we will have reached over a half of the unreached people groups in this country!

The Gospel transforms the hearts!
It is a historic occasion to bring the Gospel of peace to this war-struck province! There is great need for the humanitarian contribution in the province, but food does not remove the hate - those people need new hearts. Future will be built for Darfur, and we are absolutely convinced that the Gospel about Jesus is what can give the province hope and progress! It is absolutely an unbelievable experience to see those hundreds of born-again people singing and praising Jesus!

They are lifting the whole local community, hate is being replaced with love and forgiveness, even towards their enemies, just like Jesus said!

Now we have a possibility to create a future
for Darfur – do YOU want to help to send
messengers of peace to the war-struck Darfur?
